When the harvest is over and the clean up has finished you will find a lot of the older men sitting around chewing the fat and generally just passing the time. Going to Bangkok to work is no longer an option either health wise or interest wise but they still get itchy feet. These men are easy to spot as they always seem to be making something. Cane baskets, containers to hold the sticky rice, kites for the grand kids or in this instance throw nets. Some make it for themselves, some to give away and others to sell at the market for a little extra cash.
This man lives opposite our house and is one of the few people close by who aren’t related to my us. He seems to spend most of his life under our house as his good friend my father in law is usually around but even if he isn’t he likes our place because it is much cooler then his home he says.
Yesterday he started his throw net project so I took a few photos.
